Gardiner Founder's Day takes place in September . and therefs no time like the present to learn about one of the Oregon Coastfs most historical towns.Festivities in the past have included a Gardiner Cemetery tour with a re-enactment of some local history produced and performed by members of the local theater group Rising Tide Live!, a two-hour tour of historic homes, a reception at Tsunami Gallery and a presentation on the history of the town's post office, which was established June 30, 1851. Twelve buildings were on the historic homes tour, including Gardiner's old union hall on Front Street, which was built around 1881. This year, a pancake breakfast is planned at the Fire Hall on Marsh Street. A W.F. Jewett school reunion also is planned. |
