It doesn't get much better than DuneFest! High-flying acrobatics, fast machines, lots of vendors.The Reedsport/Winchester Bay Chamber of Commerce annual event, held in Winchester Bay, showcases some of the fanciest and fastest dune riders around. The Oregon Dunes have one of eight race tracks sanctioned by the American Sand Drag Association. This year, DuneFest will be held July 29 to Aug. 2. The popular dunes-racing events attract thousands of visitors and all-terrain riders each year. The event features drag racing organized by the American Sand Drag Association. Races are set up for pee-wees and juniors, sportsmen and, of course, pros. The U.S. Forest Service also requires fees to access some of the dunes and visitors should check with the local Forest Service office in Reedsport or online at http://www.fs.fed.us/r6/siuslaw/.
