Find a shipwreck

Gardiner residents recently discovered part of an old shipwreck poking out of the sand on the beach north of Gardiner. It followed an earlier discovery in the winter of the shipwreck of the George A. Olson near Coos Bay. Strong ocean storms in the winter uncovered all kinds of treasures on the beaches. To get there: Take U.S. Highway 101 north out of Gardiner. At the top of the hill, follow Sparrow Park road down to the beach.
